1. If you fish for salmon, you’ll know what the requirements are for a decent salmon fishing rod, and the same goes for trout. If you want to fish for other types of fish, or are going from fishing by the side of a lake, to wearing waders and standing in a river for a day, you might have different requirements for your fishing rod, and fishing tackle. It might be easier to set up a new rod, than change reels and lines when you want to catch different sorts of fish.

2. You might have recently started sea fishing, or moved from the seaside to somewhere where you’ll be fishing for salmon or trout. You current fishing tackle might not be right for the sort of fishing you’ll be doing now.

3. You might have started fishing in different sorts of waters. The fishing rod that is suitable when you’re sitting by a lake all day, might not be the best when you’re fishing in a narrow river with overhanging trees.

4. You might prefer to have a different rod for different times of year when the water levels are either higher or lower, and you might be catching different sorts of fish.

5. You’ll probably want to go fishing on holiday, but are anxious about travelling with your favourite fishing rod. Why not have a more basic and cheaper set up that you can take on holiday and not mind too much if it gets a bit bumped.

6. Your children might have shown an interest in fishing, and want to try it out for themselves. If they’re really keen, perhaps you could buy them a rod, or buy yourself a new onw, so that they can have their own fishing rod.

7. If you have a spare fishing rod, you can always keep it in the car, or have it handy so that you’re always ready for a fishing trip, no matter how last minute it is.

8. You might be a fan of new technology, and want to try the latest fishing rod technology, in order to give you the best chance of catching fish. By updating your fishing tackle, you’ll have no excuses for not catching anything!

9. If you’re getting back into fishing, and not sure on the state of your fishing gear, then why not treat yourself to a new fishing rod? If your old fishing tackle is still useable, you can use it as a spare, or a holiday rod if you don’t think it is good enough for a main rod.

10. If you’re new to fishing, and currently using a friend’s old fishing gear, then there will come a time when you’ll have to buy your own. Why not treat yourself, and see if you can catch more when you’re using tyour choice of fishing rod?

Now you know why you need a new fishing rod, isn’t it time you treated yourself?

Used Fishing Tackle – The Best Gear at Huge Savings

If you are a keen fisherman you know how much top quality tackle costs. It is very expensive, if you want the best–and if your budget is limited it can be simply unaffordable. What are you to do then if you want some new gear but just can,t come up with the big dollars needed to buy it? A new fly reel by a top maker can cost 0 and up and a really good fly rod is in the same price league. Add a good line, leaders, a box of flies and a landing net and you can be looking at over 0. That is a lot of money by any standard. If you are an average wage earner with a home and family to keep it is probably well beyond what you can afford.

Fortunately there is a simple solution to this problem. Buy used fishing tackle and save a bundle on your outfit. Now I know that the very idea of something “used” conjures up visions, for some people, of beaten up old items that are not worth having at any price. Actually nothing could be further from the truth. Many rods, reels and lures in new or near new condition are quite easy to find and to buy at a small fraction of their new value. You do not have to go without top quality tackle because you can,t afford the new price. A 0 fishing rod or reel can quite often be bought for less than –sometimes a lot less. If that sounds too good to be true you are definitely not a garage sale enthusiast. Those are the places to go for great buys on used fishing tackle.

Particularly if you live in an area where there is good fishing you will find lots of good tackle for sale weekly at local garage sales. Get yourself out of bed early on Saturday mornings, get to the sales before the crowd gets there, and you will find amazing buys on used fishing tackle in many sales. Less than 0 will buy you what would cost 0 new if you shop carefully.

Be prepared to make offers to the sellers. Garage sale prices are always negotiable and the experienced buyer always makes a lower offer than the tag price. Fishing tackle boxes full of lures, flies, leaders and assorted items can often be bought for to with contents which would cost hundreds of dollars to buy new. In fact garage sales can be your way to get that top quality tackle which is simply not affordable at the new price. Check out your local garage sales and you will see how true this is.

The Essential Fishing Tackle You Really Need

No matter how long you’ve been fishing, you can always do with a new fishing rod or different sorts of fishing tackle. But what do you really need?

1. You’ll want a fishing rod that’s the right sort for the type of fishing you do. There’s no point in buying a sea fishing rod, if you go fly fishing. You’ll also need to make sure that it’s the right length and weight too.

2. Your fishing reel needs to be right for the type of fishing you do too. If you fish for trout then you might prefer to feed the line by hand, whereas if you fish for salmon you’re likely to use the handle on you fishing reel.

3. Your fishing line and hooks will need to be appropriate for where you are fishing, and what you’re fishing for. You might want different coloured lines, of different strengths if you regularly fish in different places,or in murky water.

4. Fly tying is popular, and so you might want to make your own flies to save you time and money. You’ll need the right sort of bait to catch fish, so you’ll want to experiment, and see what works best for you.

5. If you’re keen on the idea of fishing standing in the river, then you’ll want a good quality pair of waders that won’t rip, and are comfortable for wearing all day.

6. A fishing box will enable you to keep your bait and hooks organised, and you can also use it for the other bits and pieces you need about your person.

7. A fishing bag allows you to store all your fishing tackle together, and means that you won’t forget anything important, the next time you go fishing. With bags available in all sizes, you’re bound to find one that’s right for you.

8. The right sort of fishing clothing and boots will make your time fishing more enjoyable too. You’ll want to stay warm and dry, as well as being able to move your arms and legs too. Your fishing boots will need to have good ankle support and plenty of grip for those wet and muddy river banks.

9. Fishing nets and other accessories might become more useful, as you spend more time fishing. There might be something that you’re always borrowing, or that you think would make fishing even more enjoyable or easier. Why not spoii yourself once in a while?

10. Don’t underestimate the importance of local knowledge. You can learn a lot from the others who fish with you. Remember to check the weather conditions, and know what time of year is best for catching fish, and see what fishing tackle other anglers are using. Just because you have the best or most expensive rod, doesn’t mean you’ll catch the most fish.

Now you know what you need, have you got all the fishing tackle you need?
